Cossack Labs partnered with Bear, the developer of a popular note-taking application for iOS and macOS. The challenge was to implement end-to-end encryption and multi-device synchronization for their 6 million users without compromising the app's smooth user experience, a core part of its value proposition. This required designing a secure system that could handle a large user base with numerous devices while ensuring users would never lose access to their encrypted data.

The solution designed by Cossack Labs used their Themis cryptographic library to build an end-to-end encryption engine. This allowed each note to be encrypted with a unique key, integrated platform-specific security controls, and enabled secure synchronization across a user's offline and online devices. The result was a very successful release for Bear, where the new encryption features became a major highlight, helping to attract security-conscious users and provide a clear competitive advantage.
