Salzburg Festival Foundation - Customer Case Study

The Salzburg Festival Foundation, a major classical music and performing arts festival, needed to transition from a public-sector accounting system to double-entry bookkeeping and implement a detailed, rolling cost accounting plan. This was essential due to their unique business model where a majority of costs are incurred late in the year. To address this, they turned to the Corporate Planner software from the vendor Corporate Planning.

Using Corporate Planner, the Foundation created highly detailed plans for payroll, artist contracts, and production materials, which were then used for multi-step contribution margin and P&L analyses. Corporate Planning's solution proved invaluable for rapid scenario planning during the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing executives to make quick decisions based on adjusted visitor number projections. The software also enabled decentralized planning for department heads via its Web Client, minimizing maintenance work for the key user.
