Case Study: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory accelerates COVID-19 research with Cornelis Networks

A Cornelis Networks Case Study

Cornelis Networks and AMD team up to enable Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to fight global pandemic

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), a government research facility, faced the challenge of processing massive genomic datasets to accelerate COVID-19 therapeutic discovery, a task that was taking far too long. To address this, LLNL partnered with Cornelis Networks and other vendors to deploy a new high-performance computing system.

The solution, a system named Mammoth, was built using Cornelis Networks' Omni-Path high-performance interconnect. This system dramatically reduced genomic analysis from several days to just a few hours and increased the throughput of COVID-19 antibody design research by a factor of eight, allowing scientists to achieve in six weeks what previously took months.
