How Volvo Cars Replaced Multiple Isolated Systems with a GDPR Compliant Solution to Manage Employee Health

Volvo Cars, a global automotive manufacturer with 34,000+ employees, was struggling with five separate systems (including time-keeping, SAP and HCM) to manage its Global Rehabilitation and Return to Work program, creating complexity, reporting inaccuracies and an unsustainable workload for managers. To address this, Volvo Cars partnered with Cority to implement a GDPR‑compliant Occupational Health solution using the Cority platform.

Cority delivered a unified, single source of truth for employee health—piloted in July 2017 and rolled out globally in February 2019—consolidating case management, medical certificates, automatic notifications and task creation, and robust reporting and analytics. As a result, Volvo Cars replaced multiple siloed systems, improved resource planning and return‑to‑work reporting, achieved GDPR compliance, and reached high adoption with over 3,500 managers now using the Cority platform to manage global programs.
