How UCOR Outperforms Safety Benchmarks by Nearly 70%

UCOR, a partnership of AECOM and CH2M HILL contracted to clean up the Oak Ridge Reservation, faced a uniquely hazardous work environment with radiological, chemical and industrial risks, aging facilities, extreme weather and constantly changing worksites. To manage employee health and safety, UCOR partnered with Cority, using Cority’s Occupational Health suite (since 2006) and later its Industrial Hygiene suite as part of an integrated EHS platform.

Cority implemented an integrated EHS system that centralized medical records, scheduling, lab data, trend analysis and cross‑discipline communication, enabling proactive health surveillance and coordinated safety programs. As a result, UCOR worked over 6.5 million hours without a Lost Day Away Case, posted a three‑year Total Recordable Case rate of 0.88 (≈67% below the industry average of 2.7) and a DART rate of 0.49 (≈69% below industry), outperforming benchmarks by nearly 70% for more than three years and earning recognition including a 2017 Verdantix EHS Innovation Award.
