A Coretex Case Study
E.A. Sween Company’s Combined Distribution Centers (CDC) division, which serves a major convenience-store chain, struggled with paper driver manifests, long engine idle times and excessive park time that were driving up fuel and labor costs. To automate data capture and gain actionable visibility, the CDC adopted the Coretex reefer fleet-management solution (OBC units and later Coretex in‑cab tablets) to measure and control driver behavior and stop performance.
Using Coretex’s platform to report idle and stop times, E.A. Sween cut idle rates from over 90% to about 10% (an ~80% drop), reduced average stop time by 14.3% (from 21 to under 18 minutes), and realized more than $200,000 in park-time savings — achieving payback in months. Coretex’s solution was rolled out across multiple centers (assets in eight centers across six states), improved customer visibility with electronic signatures and container tracking, and delivered measurable operational and cost improvements.
