Case Study: City of Hope achieves secure, cost-saving hybrid IT and continuous availability with CoreSite

A CoreSite Case Study

Preview of the City of Hope Case Study

City of Hope delivers outstanding care backed by CoreSite’s secure colocation and dynamic cloud gateway options

City of Hope is a private, nonprofit cancer center and research institute near Los Angeles that must protect patient data and keep critical systems running 24/7 so clinicians and scientists can work without interruption. Already operating a hybrid IT environment with two on‑premises data centers and a third‑party site in Phoenix, the organization sought an additional colocation facility and direct public cloud access to strengthen disaster recovery, business continuity and regulatory compliance.

CoreSite’s Santa Clara (SV7) facility gave City of Hope the geographic diversity and native cloud onramp it needed, including Azure ExpressRoute Local access and the Open Cloud Exchange (OCX) for rapid, multi‑cloud virtual connections through a single port. The deployment reduced data transfer and port costs, enabled better workload placement to balance latency, cost and security, supported DR/BC requirements, allowed on‑prem footprint reduction (freeing space and funds for patient care), and preserved HIPAA/HITECH‑level security to ensure continuous care and research.
