Case Study: Backblaze achieves scalable, low-cost East Coast cloud storage and replication with CoreSite

A CoreSite Case Study

Preview of the Backblaze Case Study

Backblaze Storage Cloud ensures local availability and data resilience with CoreSite’s scalable facility, native cloud onramps and Open Cloud Exchange®

Backblaze, a leading cloud storage provider managing over three billion gigabytes for more than 500,000 customers, needed to expand its eastern U.S. footprint to improve performance, geographic redundancy, and scalability as demand grew. The company sought an IT infrastructure partner that could support large capacity needs, strict compliance/security requirements, and seamless integration with public cloud providers.

CoreSite’s Reston (VA2) facility delivered an exabyte of capacity, redundant infrastructure, SOC 2/ISO/NIST/HIPAA–aligned security, and native cloud onramps that let customers replicate data from hyperscale clouds without egress fees. The deployment lowered latency for East Coast customers, increased geographic diversity and resilience, enabled future expansion in a constrained market, and—through close collaboration—accelerated Backblaze’s time to market.
