A CorelDRAW Case Study
Starforest Quilts, run by designer Barbara Webster, needed a way to turn photographic nature images into intricate, precisely aligned quilt patterns that would be impossible or impractical by hand. To replace earlier poor-quality transfer methods and time-consuming manual layout, Webster adopted CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (CorelDRAW) to import photos, manipulate shapes, and preview complex kaleidoscopic designs before printing on fabric.
Using CorelDRAW features like PowerClip and Snap To Object, Webster cut hours of work while achieving exact alignment and high-resolution results — her award-winning quilt "Rhododendron In The Snow" won the top prize and £5,000 at Quilt 2004 (138 entries). CorelDRAW lets her export 300 dpi TIFFs for large-format textile printing (up to 55" wide and 3 yards long), handle files exceeding 1.8 GB and projects with 500+ image-filled shapes, and has enabled commissions such as the hospital installation "Approaching Summer."
