Skills training gives hope to people in crisis

Careline Print Media, the social enterprise arm of the Careline Crisis and Trauma Centre in Durban, helps recovering addicts and trauma victims rebuild their lives but faced the challenge of providing practical skills and sustainable revenue to fund its services. To address this, the centre built a skills‑training print studio that teaches residents graphic design using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (CorelDRAW) and handles the charity’s stationery and marketing production as well as paid jobs for external customers.

Using CorelDRAW, Careline Print Media trains residents to design and produce business cards, posters, signage, branded gifts and more in‑house, speeding turnaround and cutting costs. The program has created full‑time employment for six residents, launched careers in graphic design, and generated a revenue stream that helps fund the charity’s staff and trauma‑response services—demonstrating measurable social and financial impact driven by CorelDRAW.
