Porsche optimizes technical illustrations with Corel products

Porsche AG, the German automobile manufacturer, faced the challenge of turning highly complex CATIA 3D construction models into clear, repurposable assembly illustrations for technical documentation. Since 1996 Porsche has relied on CorelDRAW products—specifically the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and Corel DESIGNER—to give engineers an easy-to-use graphics toolchain for editing and producing those illustrations.

To close the gap between 3D models and printable illustrations, CorelDRAW worked with Porsche to deliver a direct 3D modeling interface and a 3D import module in Corel DESIGNER Professional that imports native CAD models, allows free rotation, sectioning and exports vector graphics. The CorelDRAW solution streamlined the workflow, eliminated intermediate external service providers, and produced significant time and cost savings while rolling out across design, marketing and documentation teams.
