A CorelDRAW Case Study
The Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University Hospital of Cologne, which performs about 500 postmortem examinations a year, faced inconsistent, hand-drawn sketches for documenting lesions and trauma that would become part of court records. To standardize and speed up this critical forensic documentation, graphic artist Hans-Jürgen Stoffels used CorelDRAW Graphics Suite to produce precise, reproducible illustrations for examiners to mark up.
Using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Stoffels created scalable vector templates (full body front/side/back, detailed heads/hands/feet, organs and skeletons) and exported them to EPS, WMF and PNG for integration into PowerPoint and Word templates. The CorelDRAW-based solution delivered consistent, easily editable graphics, maintained accurate proportions at any size, sped up the documentation workflow, and provided the Institute for Forensic Medicine’s staff with standardized forms they can print and mark up—work that Stoffels completed single-handedly in a few months.
