Corel DESIGNER powers on the technical writing team at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, a 20,000-employee market leader in sheet-fed offset printing, faced a major challenge producing complex operating and maintenance manuals, spare parts catalogues and thousands of technical illustrations after its legacy Interleaf/Mondello tools and CMS proved inadequate. To future-proof its technical documentation workflow, HEIDELBERG selected CorelDRAW’s CorelDRAW Technical Suite (includes Corel DESIGNER®) following an extensive six-month evaluation.

CorelDRAW worked closely with HEIDELBERG to implement Corel DESIGNER, enhancing import filters, adding features like a freehand lasso, and delivering standardized templates and corporate macros for automatic parts numbering. The solution improved interoperability with CGM, TIFF, PDF and SVG, made transfers to isometric images painless, produced significant gains in man-hours, enabled a three-day train-the-trainer rollout, and has been rolled out to multiple sites—delivering faster production, full file compatibility and smoother cross-department collaboration.
