Louisiana State Program Reverses Long-Term Obesity Trend

Living Well in Louisiana faced a statewide obesity crisis—Louisiana was the most obese US state—and needed a sustainable way to drive activity, improve nutrition, and reverse long‑term weight trends. The state’s Lighten Up Louisiana public challenge was migrated in 2007 to the CoreHealth Technologies corporate wellness platform to support online tracking, group challenges, and community engagement.

Using the CoreHealth Technologies wellness platform, participants tracked walking, nutrition, hydration and weight, shared real‑time results and testimonials, and joined celebrity‑ and community‑sponsored challenges; 11,000 people lost weight in the first year on the platform. Since 2004 the program has engaged over 100,000 citizens, attracted major partners and celebrity endorsements, and helped Louisiana climb 12 positions to 37th in the national obesity ranking.
