The Department for International Trade (DIT) needed to modernize its outdated IT infrastructure to enable mobile working for its global staff. Their previous fixed desktop systems were inflexible and hindered communication. The challenge was to implement a secure, mobile solution that would allow employees to operate effectively from anywhere in the world. They turned to vendor Core Technology Systems to implement a cloud-based Microsoft solution.

Core Technology Systems implemented a Microsoft Office 365 solution via the G-Cloud framework, replacing desktops with laptops and Surface Pro tablets. They also deployed Microsoft SharePoint for secure file sharing. The solution received Official security status from the CESG. The results were rapid and significant; a pilot for 100 users was deployed within two months and then expanded to over 1,100 users across more than 100 countries within three months, providing a cost-effective and highly productive modern workplace.
