USP Establishes Compliance Standards Through Better Contract Management

The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), a scientific nonprofit that sets global standards for medicines and food ingredients, faced fragmented, manual contract processes—no centralized repository, outdated templates, contracts stored on disparate drives, auto‑renewals with no alerts, and heavy reliance on legal for reviews—that threatened compliance as the organization expanded internationally. After a year‑long evaluation, USP selected Corcentric’s Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution to standardize workflows, templates, and approvals.

Corcentric implemented a centralized contract database and CLM workflows with template management, automated alerts, approvals and reporting, rolling the solution out from HQ to international sites including India and China. As a result, USP now mandates contracts be entered into the system, manages roughly 500 contracts per year through Corcentric CLM, reduced legal bottlenecks and storage redundancy, enabled global access and amendments, and strengthened contract compliance across every functional department.
