SAPA leverages Corcentric technology to improve upstream spend management

SAPA, the Oslo‑based joint venture of Orkla and Hydro with roughly 23,500 employees and operations in 40+ countries, faced a highly decentralized and opaque spend landscape after the merger. Its decade‑old SAP‑based spend tool could not meet new requirements for usability, supplier classification and analytics across 115 sites and multiple ERPs. SAPA selected Corcentric and its Sourcing, Analytics and Supplier Information Management solutions, along with Corcentric’s spend classification services, to address the challenge.

Corcentric delivered a phased “wave” rollout (with local extraction support from Effso), managing data cleansing, classification, report building and analytics to centralize spend visibility. The program retrieved 98% of spend from 44 of 52 systems through seven waves across four business areas, finished on time and under budget (completed in three months), and enabled self‑service reporting for 70+ users. Corcentric Analytics now supports ongoing monitoring of purchasing and price development, sourcing pipelines and continued deployment of Supplier Information Management to improve upstream spend management.
