A Digital-First Accounts Receivable Strategy Drives Financial Efficiency

The Guardian, a global news organisation, faced a manual, paper-based invoicing process in 2012 that consumed staff time, printing and postage costs, and limited the Accounts Receivable team’s ability to focus on collections. Growing customer demand for e-billing and the need to support large circulation clients like Menzies and WHSmiths prompted The Guardian to seek an EDI and electronic invoicing provider — ultimately engaging Corcentric for its market-leading e-invoicing, EDI integration and print automation services.

Corcentric implemented an integrated electronic invoicing and EDI solution (with integrations to Tradacom and Media Ocean), automated print/post fallbacks, a customer migration service and a dedicated portal for transparency. The result: streamlined credit control, roughly 3–5 days saved per month, DSO reduced by about 2 days, and nearly 60–70% of customers migrated to e-invoicing, delivering significant cost savings, improved cash flow and operational agility.
