Inspire Development Centers unifies 26 schools with Coram

Inspire Development Centers, a state and federally funded non-profit managing 26 early childhood education schools, faced significant challenges with its previous security vendor, Verkada. The system was plagued by vendor lock-in, escalating costs, and aggressive sales tactics, which were unsustainable for the budget-conscious organization. This prompted IT Director Jason Gibbons to seek a new solution, leading them to the vendor Coram and its hardware-agnostic security platform.

Coram provided a cloud-based video management system that worked with Inspire's existing Axis cameras, eliminating hardware lock-in. The implementation of 26 Coram servers, one per school, allowed for management through a single interface, drastically reducing IT workload. The solution offered better AI performance, including more accurate facial recognition, and enabled features like agency-wide audio recording. As a result, Inspire Development Centers achieved a sustainable, cost-effective security model with a platform that aligns with its open-source philosophy and plans for future expansion into access control.
