Reducing the energy consumption of Aliaxis Group’s Spanish site by 24%

Aliaxis Group, a global manufacturer of plastic piping systems, faced high and escalating electricity costs at its Spanish facility. The site had no visibility into its energy consumption, making it difficult to identify savings opportunities. The company engaged vendor CoolPlanet to address this challenge and increase the efficiency of its energy-intensive manufacturing processes.

CoolPlanet implemented a holistic solution that included installing its CoolPlanetOS energy management software for real-time monitoring and control. They optimized the cooling system by replacing old chillers and towers, upgraded extrusion motors to efficient AC models with variable speed drives, and improved boiler and compressed air system controls. This project delivered a 24% reduction in energy consumption, achieving annual savings of €207,097 with a payback period of just 2.2 years.
