How CoolPlanet is helping Bulmers target a 42% reduction in Scope 1 emissions

C&C Group, the beverage manufacturer behind Bulmers cider, announced a commitment to significantly reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. To accelerate the decarbonization of its Clonmel manufacturing facility's Scope 1 emissions, the company partnered with vendor CoolPlanet and utilized their bespoke CoolPlanetOS energy management software to identify carbon reduction opportunities.

CoolPlanet used their software to analyze the site and proposed an innovative solution involving a high-pressure heat pump. This system recycles waste heat from the beverage cooling process to reuse it in pasteurization. This project, alongside other optimizations, is set to deliver a 42% reduction in Scope 1 emissions, saving 1,882 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually and significantly reducing the site's natural gas consumption.
