Conviva’s QoE analytics showed a clear drop in engagement once the buffering ratio reached 0.4%, so Sky needed a way to detect failures fast and switch CDNs in real time to preserve playback quality and viewer engagement.
Sky integrated Conviva’s Precision feed into its proprietary stack for instantaneous failure detection and automated CDN switching based on QoE thresholds and cost. The result: major quality gains (44% reduction in VSF and 36% less rebuffering), rapid mitigation of outages (CDN B went from <100 sessions per 5 minutes to 4,900 sessions in 15 minutes, saving over 4.5K sessions), fewer support calls, higher viewer satisfaction and preserved brand value.
