Canal Digital, a leading Nordic direct-to-home and multi-platform television provider serving about 850,000 households with more than 140 channels, set out to deliver a best-in-class streaming experience as customers consumed more video and expected stable, high-quality service. The company needed a way to benchmark performance and pinpoint where to improve across devices and apps.
Canal Digital adopted Conviva’s Video AI Platform to gain real-time, actionable streaming metrics and identify optimization opportunities. The results in Q1 2018 showed Canal Digital outperforming European averages on all key metrics: video start failure 1.19% vs. 2.07%, video start time 1.96s vs. 4.3s, rebuffering ratio 0.26% vs. 0.64%, and average bitrate 5.13 Mbps vs. 3.45 Mbps (49% higher), delivering better picture quality while maintaining reliable playback.
