Crocs ran an in-store mobile coupon experiment to drive immediate customer engagement, loyalty and sales while shoppers were in its retail locations. The specific objective was to get retail customers to request, receive and redeem a 15% off coupon on their smartphones during a store visit.
The solution used bright, urgent signage in all 185 Crocs stores directing shoppers to text “CROCS 1234” to 63103 to instantly receive a 15% off code to show at checkout. Marketed only in-store, the campaign generated 94,000 coupon requests in the first 30 days, drew positive reactions from customers and staff, and demonstrated strong short-term engagement (though longer-term loyalty and revenue effects remained to be evaluated).
