A Convio Case Study
Yellowstone Park Foundation, the official fundraising partner of Yellowstone National Park, wanted to expand its communication and fundraising efforts without the costs and environmental impact of increased direct mail. With no prior experience in email marketing and a small staff, the organization found launching a first-of-its-kind online strategy intimidating and needed a low-cost, guided way to reach new and existing supporters.
By joining the Convio Go! program and investing roughly 20–25 staff hours per month, the Foundation used Convio’s consultants and tools (email marketing, fundraising, PageBuilder) to run campaigns that drove real results: a viral iPod Touch entry campaign with more than 12,000 entries, a Youth Education appeal that raised over $10,000 (sending 178 children to summer programs), a 20% growth in the email list, a 26% increase in monthly website traffic, doubled online donations, and enough online revenue in year one to cover its three-year technology investment. They also launched a bimonthly newsletter and built lasting online marketing capacity.
