Susan G. Komen Austin faced the challenge of tapping social networks to reach a $1 million fundraising goal for its Race for the Cure. To expand reach and make giving easy, the affiliate partnered with Charity Dynamics and Convio to integrate Facebook with Convio TeamRaiser using the Convio Open APIs and a custom Facebook app, boundless Fundraising.
Charity Dynamics’ boundless Fundraising app linked participants’ Facebook pages to their Convio fundraising pages, driving viral promotion and easy donations. The app was adopted by 676 participants, generated more than 2,700 Facebook referrals, and led adopters to outperform non-adopters by 595%, produce over three times as many donations, and exceed fundraising goals by a 2:1 margin; Komen Austin plans to reuse the application for future initiatives.
