St. Francis House is New England’s largest nonprofit day shelter, serving more than 800 men and women daily. Facing an aging donor base, a tiny email list (just 150 addresses), limited communications (only a few mailings a year), and an infrequently updated website, the organization needed to start accepting online donations and engage younger constituents to boost fundraising.

Working with Convio for fundraising, content management, email and strategic consulting, St. Francis House launched targeted micro-campaigns (including “Friends of Frank”), regular e-newsletters, and segmented online/offline appeals. In 12 months the email list grew from 150 to 1,800, the group raised over $73,000 online in the first 10 months, secured a $5,000 year-end e-gift, expanded its donor base nationally and internationally, and managed all online marketing efficiently with one staff member.
