Project Bread, Massachusetts’ leading anti-hunger organization and organizer of The Walk for Hunger, needed to maximize its annual one‑day fundraiser by increasing awareness, recruiting more participants, and boosting total donations to better support emergency food programs across the state.
Project Bread implemented Convio’s integrated tools—fundraising/TeamRaiser, eCommerce, CMS, DataSync—and used personalized email and strategic online outreach plus a redesigned, frequently updated website. In two years online donations grew nearly 200% (topping $1M in 2007), number of online gifts rose 161% with average gift increasing from $37.83 to $42.44, web traffic during Walk season jumped over 50%, participants climbed 106%, email open rates reached 51%, and these results were achieved with only one additional staff hire.
