Human Rights Campaign - Customer Case Study

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest LGBT civil‑rights organization, needed to rapidly mobilize supporters to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and to win marriage equality in New York. The challenge was to run high‑stakes, time‑sensitive campaigns that integrated online, offline, field and social channels without organizational silos to coordinate messaging and rapidly act on supporter data.

Using Convio’s constituent‑engagement tools and a silo‑free, multi‑channel strategy—targeted emails, social media, phone banks, canvassing, direct mail and data capture—HRC synced field and online teams to drive action. Results included 19 million supporter emails, 625,000 emails to members of Congress, 50,000 handwritten letters, 460,000 New York action emails, 151,000 constituent contacts to legislators, 75,515 postcards, 25,600 calls and $145,000 raised, helping secure campaign wins and earning HRC industry recognition.
