HoustonPBS, America’s first public television station serving Southeast Texas, needed a cost-effective way to complement its direct mail, telemarketing and on-air fundraising by engaging members online. The organization sought secure online donation processing, easy multi-department web content management resilient to staff turnover, and tight integration with its offline donor database to personalize communications and grow fundraising programs.

Partnering with Convio’s integrated eCRM—Web Content Management, eCommerce, Email Marketing and DataSync/Connector—HoustonPBS built a unified online presence and automated donor workflows. Over seven years its active email file grew from 1,200 to nearly 50,000, online donors rose from 14 to 2,701, and online revenue climbed to represent about 13% of annual revenue (raising $309,000 in 2007 and over $1.9M since 2001); members engaged online give 25% more often, and campaigns like Summer E-scape delivered strong new-donor and revenue gains.
