Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is a national child-advocacy organization promoting policies to lift children out of poverty and ensure their health, education and protection. Facing an outdated web presence, CDF needed a redesign that clearly defined audiences and goals, improved usability and accessibility, increased qualified search traffic, reorganized and migrated large volumes of content with a new taxonomy, integrated its CRM with a CMS, and preserved consistent branding across national and regional sites.

OmniStudio led audience research and UX design, partnered with OgilvyPR for rebranding and RedEngine for integrated SEO, and integrated Convio CMS with Convio Online Marketing to create a more usable, search-friendly site. Launched in January 2009, the new site drove a 12% increase in visits, email conversion rose from 2.0% to 8.5%, Google organic visits increased 23%, average time on site grew 15%, Facebook-driven visits jumped 440%, many target keywords climbed into Google’s top five, and internal content management became faster and more efficient.
