A Convio Case Study
America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin, a Feeding America member that distributes over 13 million pounds of food annually to more than 1,100 agencies, faced rising demand but had a limited online presence—just a website with a single donate button—relied mainly on costly direct mail, and had only about 1,000 email addresses in a 30,000-contact donor file. With small staff time available and little online fundraising experience, the organization needed an efficient solution to reach donors, build relationships, and increase fundraising without a large new resource commitment.
In June 2008 they joined Convio’s Go! program, using strategic planning, interactive services, email marketing, online fundraising forms and PageBuilder to publish frequent content. The campaign paid for the program with its first online appeal, doubled email addresses through an online advocacy letter, gathered donor stories, increased regular communications without per-email fees, and met leadership goals while requiring under 10 hours of staff time per week.
