Thompson Tractor Company, a major Caterpillar equipment dealer in the southeastern US with about 1,300 employees across three states, struggled to track and forecast the mix of instructor-led, hands-on, and federally mandated training its technicians needed to advance. Thompson needed a system that would perform a training needs analysis, tell them who required what training and when, and replace their spreadsheet-based tracking; they selected Convergence Training’s Convergence LMS (including MSHA and health & safety content) to address that gap.
Convergence Training rolled out the Convergence LMS to deliver courses, push policy documents, and build learning paths for career progression, plus MSHA and safety content, while tracking who had viewed materials. The LMS generates weekly exception reports that forecast required training and pinpoint who is out of compliance, enabling Thompson to schedule instructor-led classes efficiently and dramatically reduce employees “falling through the cracks.” As a result, Thompson keeps training current on a weekly basis, improves regulatory and advancement compliance, and reports fewer missed training requirements since adopting Convergence Training’s solution.
