How North Carolina Streamlined Law Enforcement Training and Certification

The North Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (NCJA) trains more than 10,000 officers annually across two campuses but struggled with fragmented software, paper-based workflows, duplicate records, and a lack of real-time reporting that made certification and instructor tracking inefficient. To modernize and launch a Virtual Campus, the Academy selected Convergence Training and its Acadis platform to replace siloed systems and provide a unified solution for class management, online registration, testing, and certification tracking.

Convergence Training implemented a single, partitioned Acadis instance for NCJA and the Standards Commissions with modules for People & Resources, Registration, Training, Scheduling, Housing, Case Management, Compliance, Online/Observed Testing, and Budgeting. The centralized system standardized testing across 68 sites, enabled auditable hire-to-retire records and online payments, and delivered measurable impact: online completions rose from 1,883 in 2015 to 240,904 in 2024, the Criminal Justice Standards Division saves about $54,000 annually on printing/mailing and has processed over $500,000 in online payments, and NCJA eliminated physical file storage while freeing staff time for higher‑value work.
