Wearable Technology - Saving Lives By Triggering Proactive Treatment At The Right Time

HSPrime, a healthcare group focused on reducing chronic-disease mortality, needed a way to use wearable devices and mobile apps to monitor patient vitals and trigger alerts when readings crossed safe limits. The challenge was pairing wearables to patient IDs reliably, connecting multiple devices to one patient, and sending panic alerts to doctors, guardians, and coordinators in time for intervention.

Contus built a multi-tier solution with patient, doctor, and guardian/coordinator apps, using Bluetooth Low Energy and a custom independent Bluetooth layer for flexible device pairing. Contus also added medicine adherence tracking, panic alerts, Google Maps location sharing, and a dashboard for remote monitoring on AWS. The result was continuous patient monitoring, faster emergency response, and the ability for HSPrime to manage multiple patients and expand to more wearable devices for broader vital-sign tracking.
