Moving the Mountain for Modesto Irrigation District

Modesto Irrigation District faced an urgent technology and compliance challenge: its central repository ran on an older OpenText eDOCS platform that was incompatible with Windows 7 64-bit and created security, permissioning and client‑support problems. MID chose to move roughly 300,000 documents and metadata to Microsoft SharePoint and selected Contracts 365 to lead the effort, using the Contracts 365 Contract Management App for SharePoint (CM.app) to preserve the district’s metadata‑driven search and reporting needs.

Contracts 365 managed an eight‑phase migration (with SeeUnity and custom scripts) that brought ~300,000 documents into SharePoint, deployed an Enterprise Content Type hub across more than 50 site collections/databases, and implemented CM.app for intuitive metadata search and reporting. The result is a trusted, scalable SharePoint repository with stronger, centralized security, a “hot standby” disaster‑recovery site updated every 15 minutes, successful cross‑department adoption, and improved project collaboration and auditability.
