The Coca‑Cola Company reinvented its corporate website in 2012 as Journey, a brand‑publishing platform designed to be the company’s public face and a media destination. The challenge was shifting both internal and external perceptions from a traditional corporate site to a magazine‑style publisher while figuring out the right editorial mix, publishing volume, and how to scale the approach globally without losing Coke’s optimistic voice.

Coca‑Cola responded with a data‑driven content strategy: a small core team plus freelancers publishing two to three stories daily, analytics to guide topic selection, dedicated channels for high‑performing areas like food, music and Coke history, and a visual redesign to showcase top content. In the first year Journey published over 1,200 pieces, attracted about 1.1 million monthly visitors, doubled down on successful branded stories, and began launching localized Journey sites across 30+ countries.
