Revolutionary New Solution Helps Frenship ISD Find and Block ‘Tunneling’ Applications

Frenship Independent School District, a 10,000-student district in West Texas, needed a way to identify and block rogue applications that let students bypass its web filter, create security risks, and waste bandwidth on non-educational activities. The district turned to ContentKeeper Technologies and its App Defender product to stop tunneling apps and other unauthorized tools.

ContentKeeper Technologies implemented App Defender to detect suspicious applications, isolate affected devices, and require students to remove the offending software before network access was restored. The result was a major drop in rogue app attempts, from 400 or 500 per day to fewer than 100, along with better bandwidth control, improved security, and stronger CIPA compliance.
