Transtec Gotthard, a consortium installing railway technology in the world's longest tunnel, faced the immense challenge of controlling a complex, multi-year construction project. They needed to avoid the common pitfalls of delays and cost overruns by monitoring thousands of interdependent work packages and managing deviations in real time. To achieve this, they implemented the CONTACT Project Office multi-project management platform.

This allowed project managers to foresee the impact of delays and proactively keep the project on track. As a direct result, the Gotthard Base Tunnel was completed and ready for operation in 2016, a full year ahead of the original schedule.
