Case Study: Devcon Scholars gain blockchain skills and career opportunities with ConsenSys

A ConsenSys Case Study

Preview of the Devcon Scholars Case Study

An initiative designed to provide an opportunity for individuals from underserved communities, unique circumstances, or developing areas to engage with the Ethereum ecosystem.

Devcon Scholars is an initiative that brings people from underserved communities into the Ethereum ecosystem but faced barriers including scattered resources, language and connectivity limitations, and underrepresentation of non‑Western voices. ConsenSys (via ConsenSys Social Impact and ConsenSys Academy), working with partners like the Bounties Network and UNICEF Innovation, partnered with the Ethereum Foundation to expand free blockchain education, mentorship, translations, and engagement opportunities for scholars worldwide.

ConsenSys provided $55,000 in in‑kind support (1,000 employee volunteer hours) while ConsenSys Academy contributed $30,000 in educational resources and mentorship; the Bounties Network hosted ETHScholars bounties and funded gas, and UNICEF’s BST token enabled practical learning and charitable impact. The program supported 53 scholars from 25 countries with over $300k in ecosystem support, produced 500+ bounty submissions (≈390 BST earned), achieved over 60% certified blockchain professionals (64% ConsenSys Academy certified), saw 91.5% rate the program as deeply impactful, and delivered measurable professional outcomes (41% secured interviews and 24% secured offers within two weeks); ConsenSys’s involvement was central to these results.
