Case Study: Federal Labs Consortium achieves a searchable federal patent database with Connotate

A Connotate Case Study

Preview of the Federal Labs Consortium Case Study

Powering Technology Transfer With U.S. Federal Laboratory Data

Federal Labs Consortium needed a way to bring together patent information scattered across more than 40 technology transfer websites, each with its own structure, so UTRS could build a single searchable database for the FLC Business site. The challenge was to consolidate inconsistent federal lab data into one up-to-date repository for U.S. businesses.

Connotate solved this by automatically extracting, normalizing, and storing patent data from the sites on a weekly basis. As a result, Connotate now powers the Federal Labs Consortium’s FLC Business website with accurate, searchable patent information from more than 340 federal laboratories and research institutions, while requiring only a partial resource allocation to build and maintain the agents.
