Holland Centre Patient Orientation Program Flow Solution

Holland Centre (Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre) provides specialized musculoskeletal care but was facing long patient wait times, excessive back-and-forth walking between assessments, and poor visibility of patient status because communication relied on a manual whiteboard and fragmented reports. Connexall was engaged to address these workflow and communication failures by implementing an electronic, PC‑based Patient Status Whiteboard and a redesigned POP (Patient Orientation Program) workflow.

Connexall’s solution involved pre-loading schedules, real‑time status updates, automated dispatch and notifications to clinical units, and staff training to replace the reception whiteboard and reduce unnecessary patient trips. The change delivered clearer coordination, fewer bottlenecks (notably in the Lab), higher patient satisfaction and better staff productivity; average patient visit time dropped by as much as 49 minutes and department waits fell substantially (for example, Nursing 37→25 min, Internist 50→31 min, Imaging 50→27 min).
