PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services, a fulfillment provider with more than 480,000 square feet of warehouse space, processes more than 115,000 packages a month. As its international business grew 250 percent over the last couple of years, the company struggled with lost paperwork on cross-border shipments, which could cause a 72-hour delay. PBD had asked UPS for a paperless invoicing service as part of its “blue sky list.”
Using ConnectShip with UPS Paperless Invoice, PBD now scans a barcode and the shipment data automatically populates the system. What had taken 20 seconds now takes less than five, and the company says the change saves time and money at peak volumes of more than 3,000 pieces per day. ConnectShip and UPS Paperless Invoice also eliminated lost paperwork, reduced paper use by about two pallets a year and about 150 toner cartridges, and gave PBD a simpler way to handle international returns.
