American Hotel Register Company, a 112-year-old distributor serving hotel chains, colleges, and hospitals, needed to improve shipping operations across its 11 North American distribution centers. Its shipments ranged from bellhop carts to soap and used multiple carriers, including parcel and less-than-truckload, creating a need for better routing, labeling, tracking, and manifesting.

ADSI implemented a shipping and manifest system using ConnectShip, along with Motorola scanners and Zebra printers, and later added a wireless infrastructure for paperless processing. American Hotel Register said the system let it manifest every type of shipment, improve outbound tracking, and support RF-directed operations. Results included dock-to-stock throughput that was 45 percent faster, inventory accuracy that was 30 percent better, picking accuracy rising from 99.5 percent to 99.74 percent, and $1.1 million in annual savings from improved accuracy.
