The customer, RWE, a major global renewable energy company, faced the challenge of managing data from its vast and heterogeneous portfolio of over 200 wind farms. This data was collected and evaluated in a decentralised manner across different countries, making it difficult to achieve a centralised view for data-driven optimisation and cost reduction. The vendor, ConnectPoint, was engaged to help centralise this data processing and control.

ConnectPoint developed a centralised real-time system using the OSIsoft PI system as an integration layer, which was supplemented with business and sensor data. This solution provided a 360-degree view of operations, enabled predictive maintenance, and featured applications for real-time control and anomaly detection. The implementation saved many operational hours, significantly reduced repair costs, and provided a sound basis for data-driven decision-making across RWE's entire wind farm portfolio.
