3M unifies capacity planning across 200 plants with Congruent Info-Tech

The customer, 3M, a global science company, faced a challenge in managing capacity planning for its worldwide operations. Their legacy system was ineffective, forcing much of the work to be handled outside of it, and lacked the multi-echelon analytical model needed for inventory optimization. Congruent Info-Tech was engaged to develop a new, common system to address these needs.

Congruent Info-Tech developed and implemented a web-based .NET application called Capacity Optimization & Asset Loading (COAL). The solution integrated with SAP to synchronize master data, enabled detailed planning model creation, and provided powerful visualizations for planners, including control charts and value stream views. This provided 3M's supply chain division with a consolidated system for effective global capacity planning and scenario analysis.
