Case Study: Länsimetro achieves safer, more transparent metro construction with Congrid

Länsimetro vision – building the word’s safest subway by using uniform safety and quality management tool

Länsimetro, a company building and developing the West Metro system in Espoo, Finland, faced a significant challenge in coordinating schedules, timeliness, and a large number of personnel across its complex infrastructure project. With up to six main contractors and over twenty subcontractors on site, managing thousands of tasks and quality inspections was difficult. To achieve its vision of creating the world's safest metro, Länsimetro selected Congrid as a partner to implement a uniform digital documentation and quality management tool.

The Congrid software provided a unified system for the seamless flow of information, which was integrated into Länsimetro's real-time data sharing. The solution streamlined the assignment of responsibilities and feedback, handling over 76,000 task notes, 116,000 photos, and 2,400 inspections. This helped the project be completed ahead of schedule and supported Länsimetro's vision of a transparent and safe worksite. A Länsimetro director stated that monitoring tasks would have been significantly more challenging without Congrid and recommended its use for construction projects.
