Sony Electronics, the U.S. sales and marketing arm of Sony’s global electronics business, was hampered by an unwieldy, paper-based contract process that produced inconsistent legal language, hard-to-find documents, manual approval delays, and no feasible reporting. The company needed a scalable CLM replacement for 1,700 users across legal, procurement and IT that could be tied into its PO system.
By implementing Conga Contracts with a full migration from the prior CLM and integration into Ariba, Sony automated approvals (triggering payments), workflows and reporting, enabled fast contract creation via a configurable wizard, and centralized clause and language control. The result: legacy data migrated, legal gained ownership and system-wide visibility, approvals became timely and duplicate approvals were eliminated, 80% of contracts now use standard templates, and reporting surfaces bottlenecks for proactive resolution.
