Improve Functional Testing via Model-Based Automated Test Design

Honeywell worked with Conformiq, utilizing their Qtronic model-based testing (MBT) tool, to address the challenge of improving the quality and efficiency of its functional testing processes. The initiative aimed to automate test design to achieve better coverage and manage the complexities of their system requirements.

Conformiq's solution involved creating a detailed UML and Java model of the system's functional behavior to automatically generate test cases. This model-based approach, supported by a custom test harness, enabled Honeywell to achieve a high degree of test automation from design to execution. The implementation by Conformiq resulted in higher test quality, the early discovery of specification issues, and significant productivity gains, particularly during maintenance and change requests, yielding a strong return on investment in subsequent project iterations.
