How Model Based methodology has improved the collaboration between Agile teams

The customer, Ericsson, faced the challenge of developing and testing a complex IMS Application Server. This involved integrating work from several teams, managing a huge legacy codebase, and introducing new agile methodologies and model-driven practices to teams with no prior modeling knowledge. To address this, Ericsson partnered with the vendor Conformiq to implement a model-driven workflow for both design and testing.

Conformiq's solution involved creating formal, executable models from service requirements, which enabled parallel development and early testing. This model-based testing approach, integrated with Conformiq's tools, replaced a manual test design process with an automated one, generating test cases and documentation. The results for Ericsson included raising the abstraction level for developers, enabling early testing to find defects sooner, and building confidence through a test-driven development process facilitated by Conformiq's methodology.
